If you would love to spend time riding and caring for a horse as your own, we have plenty of day time riding adventures for you to choose from!
At Saddle Camp you’ll have your own beautiful, gentle and well-mannered horse for as long as you're here. You’ll have an assistant on the ground to give you tips along the way, and there are Trophies & Rosettes awarded during competitions. We’ll make sure you learn lots, and have just as much fun too!
Boys are very welcome to ride! Parents & little brothers & sisters are very welcome to stay and play in our kids play area and café, or they can leave you to the horses and explore Braidwood and surrounds!
And if you have your own horse or pony and would like to bring it along to ride in any of these adventures, we’d love to meet them and take 50% off the price.
You can choose from:
Mini Adventure Ride
A great introduction to the wonderful world of horse riding. We introduce you to your horse and make sure you're comfortable before heading out on an escorted 25 minute ride through the bush, looking out for wild native animals. Stop at the dam and let your horse have a drink. If you feel confident, try a trot (or even a canter!).
Recommended for riders 2 years and over. Available every day! $25pp
Picnic Trail Ride
Choose your horse and head out on a scenic 5 km bush ride. Look out for wild native animals, pop over some jumps (optional!), and try a gallop (or canter, or trot - your call). Take a break on the ride with a quick picnic - Rob's awesome Chocolate Brownies (or we can pack other food if you're gluten or lactose intolerant). During the ride you'll hear many stories of the area’s history.
Recommended for children 6 years and over. Wednesdays (10 am to 12 noon) and Sundays (9.30 to 11.30 am) $90pp
Take a relaxing ride down to the Bombay Swimming Holes on the Shoalhaven River. Cool down with a swim or explore the old gold-fields and snack on afternoon tea before riding back. Recommended for children 5 years and over.
Mondays and Wednesdays (1 pm to 4 pm, or help unsaddle & put horses away and finish at 4.30 pm). $90pp
A great way to learn more about caring for horses. Learn how to groom a horse, saddle-up and how to ride. Learn how to drive a pony and cart. Practice your new skills in a mini-gymkhana and have a ride bareback. And at the end of the day, receive a Trophy or Rosette! Lunch & morning tea included. Recommended for children 6 years and over. Tuesdays and Saturdays (9.30 am to 3.30 pm). $145pp
A day full of fun on horseback! Learn new riding skills and put them into action. Practice riding the Ball & Racket Race, Diamond Flag Race, Barrel Race, Bending Race, Bend Bar Aft, Bounce Pony and Candy Steady. At the end of the day receive a Trophy or Rosette! Lunch is included too. Recommended for riders 6 years and over. Mondays (9 am to 1 pm) and Thursdays (10 am to 2 pm). $105pp
A little more serious - Learn the basics of dressage: Learn how to groom a pony and how to plait up a pony’s mane and present the pony for showing. Compete in a leading class, a riding class, a dressage test and jumping competition. And after the serious riding is over, finish off with some crazy fun party games on horseback. At the end of the day, receive a Trophy or Rosette! Lunch is included. Recommended for 6 years and over. Fridays (10 am to 4 pm) and Sundays (11.30 am to 4 pm). $110pp
“I would like to thank you for such a great day my kids, Ashley and Phoebe, had when they attended your Horsemanship Day earlier this year. I’ve been meaning to let you know that I thought you were so well organised with your well behaved ponies. My girls had a fantastic day. The ponies were great and so much information was given. My kids learnt so much in one day in a safe and fun environment. You are a credit to your business and I hope you do well with it. Hope you and your family and those great ponies have a wonderful Christmas, Leah.”
“Dear Helen, Comet, Cupid, Chico and Jasper, I had a lovely time at Saddle Camp on Chico and Comet. And enjoyed riding them. I love horses and it has been my biggest dream to have one. Now, thanks to you I have realised that horses take more work so I don’t bother my mum or dad any more. I am really looking forward to coming back to Saddle Camp, from Jacqui”
