Riding Lessons

Would you like to learn how to ride a horse safely, confidently and effectively, within 20 lessons?

If you’re 5 years or older and weigh less than 70 kg (Sorry! Our current team of horses are weight limited to that), then we can make it happen :)

I bought our 4 horses and ponies with this in mind. They’ve been trained beautifully right from the start, with caring, experienced and knowledgeable owners before they came to Saddle Camp.

They have the right temperaments for this work, so I can teach you quickly and effectively.

Their saddles have been professionally fitted, putting you in the correct riding position right from the start.

And we’re always working on making sure they’re comfortable right through their bodies, so their movement is rhythmical and comfortable for you.

I know everyone learns differently, and I have 2 options for you to choose from - Formal Private Riding Lessons and Saddle Club (After-School Riding Fun)

Formal Private Riding Lessons

The lessons are one-on-one so you’ll learn at your own pace, and you’ll have your instructor’s absolute focus.

We’ll start on the lunge, so you can learn how to follow the horse’s movement at walk, trot and canter. And THEN we’ll work on control :) And add some jumps.

We’ll record your progress in your Log Book, and when it’s complete you’ll receive a Graduation Medallion.

And then you can join in our Angel Riders Coaching Sessions…

The private lessons are 30 minutes of intense concentration.

Available Monday’s and Friday’s through school term at 3.45 and 4.30 pm.

And on weekends right through the year.

Monday’s & Friday’s include bus transfers from Braidwood Central and St Bede’s Braidwood, and a healthy/tasty afternoon snack.

Formal Private Riding Lessons are $50 each.

P.S. Your Instructor is me, Helen Faulkner, Cert. IV Sports Coach Equestrian. Owner/Manager/Instructor at Saddle Camp for 26 years, and others for 2 years.

My riding lesson system has been developed over 26 years.  It’s strongly based on the system recommended by Horseridingcoach.com.

Natural Horsemanship concepts are woven in to the program too, so you'll learn just how soft, quiet and willing a great riding horse can be.

Saddle Club - After-School Riding Fun

“Gently Shape” your riding skills on a Mini Adventure Ride and playing Mounted Games in the arena.

And have LOADS of Fun!

Arrive at 3.45 pm, have a quick healthy/tasty afternoon tea, and we ride until 5 pm.

Available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons through NSW school term.

$40/afternoon, with bus transfer from Braidwood Central & St Bede’s and afternoon tea included.

Just book one lesson or Saddle Club afternoon at a time.  That way if the weather is inclement, or if our riders get sick, it’s just 1 click of a button to postpone the booking or refund you.

We’re working on getting a roof over the arena this year, and too hot/too windy/too wet weather won’t worry us.  But until then, we’ll stay as flexible as possible.

If you have any questions at all, email thesaddlecamp@gmail.com, or call Helen on 0417 456 093.

Thank you for teaching me how to ride a horse and all the bits on the bridle and the bits on the saddle.  I think Saddle Camp is the best place to learn to ride a horse.  Thank you so much for teaching me.  I don’t know what I could do on a horse without you.
